Interface – Past Forward
Remastered. Reimagined. Remade.

Interface make high-tech flooring tiles. A lot of high-tech flooring tiles. As the global leader, they set the standard for design-led, sustainably-made modular flooring solutions. Specified by leading architects and interior designers for the last 50 years, Interface has found its way into almost every kind of interior space – from global headquarters to luxury hotels, science labs to operating theatres.
2023 marked their golden anniversary, and to celebrate Interface globally launched their latest range – Past Forward. A marriage of old and new, bold and nostalgic. Taking inspiration from the last 5 decades of iconic design, the collection dialled into the WFH office trend – creating commercial spaces that felt familiar and comfortable.
The launch campaign demanded a strong visual concept, able to communicate the various design stories surrounding the collection - mirroring the sense of energy of each tile design.

We challenged Interface to embrace the concept of ‘design nostalgia’, re-appropriating design cues from the past for a modern product. Working with their global design team, we flexed the core brand to allow for a campaign-specific design language – featuring a modern colour palette and display typeface that felt characterful yet familiar.
Alongside our production partners, we styled and directed a range of bold interior spaces that reflected 50 years of interior design. As a bit of a tipping of the hat to campaigns from the past, our models took on the behaviour of a manikin – brought to life through a series of cinemagraph social assets.
A range of still and moving campaign assets were created, guided by an activation toolkit for global roll-out. A product film brought the story of the Past Forward collection to life, used as a key launch asset.
